Vera Faye Lewis

Arapahoe, Nebraska Vera Faye Lewis, age 92, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital at Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born February 4, 1918 at Arapahoe, Nebraska to Merle & Ann (Jacobson) Adams. Vera Faye was a life long resident of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She graduated from Arapahoe High School with the Class of 1934. Following graduation she attended Kearney State Teachers College at Kearney, Nebraska. She taught County School for 4 years at the Dunbar School House. She married Donald Lewis on June 8, 1938 at Arapahoe, Nebraska. They farmed in the Arapahoe area until the early 1970's at which time they moved into Arapahoe, Nebraska. Her husband Donald died February 18, 1991. She moved to Good Samaritan Assisted Living in January of 2010. She was a 4-H member in younger years, later being a 4-H leader and also belonging to the 4-H council. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Arapahoe, taught Sunday School for a number of years, belonged to Methodist Women, PEO Chapter CE of Arapahoe and also was a member of Eastern Star all of Arapahoe. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Donald, brothers: Merle & Don Adams, and infant Grand-daughter. Survivors include: Son: Dale Lewis and wife Nancy of Fulton, Missouri Daughter: Donna & husband Kenneth Torbeck of Deshler, Nebraska Grandchildren; 2 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, June 10, 2010, 1 PM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe and prior to services Friday at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, June 11, 2010 at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev.'s Mike Flury and Melody Adams, officiating. Burial will follow at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Arapahoe Senior Center, Arapahoe Schools Foundation, and the Vera Faye Lewis Memorial Fund, or donor's choice.
