Stephen J. Fisher, age 78, of rural Edison, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 23, 1947, in Longview, Washington to Ralph and Hazel (McKnight) Fisher.
Steve attended school at Elwood, Nebraska and Beaver City, Nebraska and graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1965. He went on and attended Kearney State Teachers College for one year. In 1967, he married La Creta Johnson, and to this union four children were born; Chad, Treg, Andrea, and Caleb.
Steve spent his life as quite a jack of all trades. He milked cows after college, worked at the grocery store as meat cutter, farmed (his first love), part time at Hardman’s Lumber Yard, and the owned the tire, repair shop, & gas station, and managed the Furnas County Inn.
He enjoyed camping and cooking, building and remodeling, and spending time with family, especially following all the grandchildren’s activities. He attended the First Christian Church of Beaver City and served as deacon, elder, chairman of the board (even at his time of passing), and was on the planning board of Nationwide Youth Roundup Church Camp.
He is survived by his wife La Creta Fisher,

Son Caleb (Amanda) Fisher and family Wiley, Addilyn, Jaxton, Legend, Loyalty
Sister Cheryl (Rod) Ruhter & Brother Scott (Jeanne) Fisher
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ken Fisher
Celebration of Life services will be held Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at First Christian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Warren Dunlap, officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation. Garey Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge arrangements.
