Robert Martin Ottman, age 86, of Kearney, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born September 26, 1926 at Maxwell, Nebraska to George & Francis (Howarton) Ottman.
After his schooling, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for 4 years. He married Leona Brown on December 30, 1950 at the United Methodist Church, in Lexington, Nebraska. He would work in the propane service department for Lexington Coop Oil Company for more than 30 years. He also helped Del Brock as an electrician and Simplot Fertilizer for a few years. In 1983, they moved to Kearney and he would work for Kearney Public Schools as a Custodial Engineer. He was a member of the American Legion and past member of the Eagle’s Club, both of Kearney, Nebraska, and the Christian Church of Lexington, Nebraska. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and watching sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leo Ottman, sisters: Leona Agnew, Lula Arnold, & Evelyn Beins.
He is survived by his wife Leona Ottman of Kearney, Nebraska

Diana & husband Dwight Lindskov of Imperial, Nebraska
Nita & husband David Worthen of Covina, California

There will be no viewing or visitation. Graveside services will be Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 1 PM at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, in Maxwell, Nebraska with Pastor George Probasco, officiating. Military rites will be given at the memorial service in Elwood by the North Platte American Legion and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Elwood Funeral Home of Elwood, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
