Beaver City, Nebraska. Richard I. Taylor, age 62 of Beaver City, Nebraska died Wednesday at his home in Beaver City, Nebraska. He was born June 25, 1948 at Norton, Kansas to Cecil and Helen (Perkins) Taylor. Richard grew up in the Precept, Nebraska area. He graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1966. He attended Ag school at Curtis, Nebraska following graduation for 2 years. He served in US Army from March 12, 1969 until June 8, 1971. He served in Viet Nam and received Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He returned to Curtis following his discharge and married Donna Hanes on April 23, 1972 in Curtis. He worked for the Roscoe Carr family in Wellfleet, Nebraska for 2 years following his marriage. They lived in several communities including Alma for 4 years before moving back to farm in the Precept area in the late 70's. He was a rural mail carrier from early 1980's until retiring in 2008. His longest rural mail job was at Arapahoe, Nebraska. He also continued to farm in Precept area after running his mail route each day. He continued to farm with his Son Mike at the time of his death. He and his wife divorced in 1994. He was a member of Faith Community Church, Past Commander of VFW, member of American Legion Post #28 all at Beaver City, Nebraska. He also belonged to rural letter carriers association. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Abigail Reiser, two nephews Brad Holmes and Anthony Grothen. And special friend Mary Jo Dutton. Survivors include; Son; Mike and wife Jodi Taylor of Beaver City, Nebraska Daughters: Lisa and husband Larry Reiser of Sidney, NE Angie and husband Kyle Woodring of Beaver City, NE Natalie and husband Cody Linner of Norton, Kansas Brother; Elvin and wife Joyce Taylor of Syracuse, NE Sisters: Joyce and husband Clair Holmes of Hershey, NE Dorothy and husband Gene Beck of Knoxville, Tennessee Arlene and husband Jim Cross of North Platte, NE Leta and husband Dennis Grothen of Hasting, NE Grandchildren; 8 Richards good friend Nancy Long of Arapahoe, NE Viewing and visitation will be Saturday, June 11, 9 AM until 8 PM and Sunday, 1 PM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Monday at the church. Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com Funeral services will be Monday, June 13, at 10 AM at Faith Community Church in Beaver City with Pastor Dwain Fowler, officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow at Precept Cemetery, rural Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of services.
