Arapahoe, Nebraska Richard Henry William Dickmeyer, age 82, of Elwood Care Center, Elwood, NE, formerly of Arapahoe, Nebraska died Monday, October 10, 2005 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born on July 28, 1923 to Henry F. & Rose C. (Niemann) Dickmeyer at their rural home in Gosper County, NE. He attended Trinity Parochial School for 8 years and then attended Arapahoe High School and graduated with the Class of 1940. After high school he farmed with his father and brother Leon in Gosper County, NE. He entered the U.S. Navy in August of 1943 serving a gunner on the Alice H. Rice and also the U.S.S. South Dakota. He returned home after his discharge in February of 1946 where he farmed again with his family. He married Helene A. Wendland on January 25, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Arapahoe, NE. Besides farming and ranching he would also work construction for Mosbarger & Ems Construction and also Nott, Snyder, & Wendland Construction. He moved to the Elwood Care Center, Elwood, NE in July of 2005. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE. American Legion Post #96 & Burtons Bend V.F.W. Post #9357 of Arapahoe, NE. He is preceded in death by his parents & step-father Joe Mayer. He is survived by Wife: Helene A. Dickmeyer of Arapahoe, NE 4 Sons: Richard Lee of North Platte, NE Kim Leon & wife Stephanie Dickmeyer of Venango,NE Gary Ray & wife Claire Dickmeyer of Stuttgart, Germany David Martin of Arapahoe, NE Daughter: Rosellen Ann Dickmeyer of Hastings, NE 2 Brothers: Leon & Wife Dorothy Dickmeyer of Arapahoe, NE J.D. Dickmeyer of Safford, Arizona Sister: Ellanor Schoenefeld of Fort Wayne, IN Grandchildren: 8 Great-Grandchildren: 6 Viewing & visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 11, 1 PM till 8 PM and Wednesday, Oct. 12, 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, NE and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 13, at 10 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, NE with Rev. Jeff W. Ernstmeyer, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, NE. Military rites given by American Legion Post #96 of Arapahoe, NE.
