Richard Eldon Breinig, 82, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Richard was born September 1, 1941, in Oxford Nebraska to parents Raymond “Bud” and Maxine (Watts) Breinig.

He grew up on the farm northeast of Arapahoe and attended Arapahoe High School, graduating in 1960. He married the love of his life Judith Sweeley on June 15, 1963, in the Saint Germanus Catholic Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska. They lived in Bertrand, Nebraska where he owned and operated Breinig Oil Co., until returning to the family farm in the spring of 1980. They later moved into the town of Arapahoe in 2022 after a wildfire took the farmstead that spring. Rich enjoyed the quiet farm life raising crops and cattle. He loved spending time with friends and family. He was always quick with a joke or a good story and loved a good cup of coffee.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Raymond and Maxine Breinig, brother Larry (Sherry) Breinig, sister Judy Jacobson, his father and mother-in-law George and Bernice Bryant Sweeley, Brother-in-laws Clarence (Tex) Sweeley and Shermin (Laura) Sweeley and Sister-in-law Ila (Wayne) Schutz. 

Richard is survived by his wife Judith, brother Robert (Bob) and wife Janice Breinig of Holdredge NE, Sister-in-law Linda Sweeley of Rowlett, Texas and Brother-in-law Ronald Jacobson, of Loomis, NE.  Children Jeanette (Jim) Bloch of Andover, Kansas, Janet (Donny) Busenbark of Omaha, Nebraska, Ronda (Jeff) Cross of Cambridge, Nebraska and Rick (Mindi) Breinig of Kearney, Nebraska.  Grandchildren: Justin Bloch, Jessica (Mike) Liebst, Emma, August and Jake Busenbark, Taylor (Colt) Livingston, Sheldon (Craig) Grayek, Rylee and Jordyn Cross, Isabella and Sarah Breinig and Riley Troester, Hanna and Parker Herian.  Great grandchildren Kayden, Noah, Natalie, Axl, Declan, Briar, and Landon. Along with many nieces and nephews.   

No services are planned at this time, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date. All cards or memorials can be sent to 1109 Vine Street, Arapahoe, NE 68922.
