Ralph Lavern Lammers, age 97, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Phelps Memorial Hospital, Holdrege, Nebraska. He was born on December 7, 1920 in Upland, Nebraska to Chris & Dora (Klahn) Lammers. He was baptized on October 13, 1921 in Hildreth, Nebraska and attended school through the 8th grade. After his schooling, he worked on the family farm. On July 13, 1942 he was drafted in the US Army and served in Central Europe. He earned a Silver Star while serving as Sergeant of the 395th Infantry. He was honorably discharged on January 24, 1946. After his time in the service, he spent some time ranching in the Harrison, Nebraska area. He was united in marriage on February 19, 1950 to Joanne Rose Kauffelt. They were blessed with two daughter; Kristie Jo and Kathy Louise. Many of Ralph’s working years were spent farming with Neil Ranch south of Cozad, Nebraska until 1967, when he began working at Cozad Culligan Water Soft and later purchased this business. They truly enjoyed serving their customers in Dawson County. He sold his business in 1982 and retired to Arapahoe to be closer to his family. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe and a Lutheran Brotherhood Representative and served on various church boards. He also served on the committee which built the Veteran’s Memorial wall in downtown Arapahoe. He was a member of the VFW Post 9357. He and Joanne enjoyed square dancing and playing cards with friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathy and husband Steve Lallman, granddaughter-in-law Kasey Jo Warner, brothers Carl, Jacob, Alfred, Roy, Willis, & William, sisters Julietta, Clara, Lena, Bertha, & Anna, Brothers-in-law Donald Vannier and Gene Osterbuhr, Sister-In-Law Gloria Vannier,. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Joanne Lammers of Arapahoe, Nebraska, daughter Kristie Warner and husband Monte of Beaver City, Nebraska, grandsons Darren Warner and wife Amy of Edison, Nebraska and Dan Warner and wife Kate of Arapahoe, Nebraska, Brother Donald Lammers and wife Joann of Minden, Nebraska, Sister-In-Law Patricia Osterbuhr of Minden, Nebraska. Great-Grandchildren: Aubree, Bryson, Gentry, Berkley, Addelyn, Kallan, and Creyton Warner and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 2 PM till 6 PM and family present from 2 PM till 4 PM, and Monday, February 19, 2018 from 2 PM till 6 PM at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main St., Arapahoe, Nebraska. Funeralservices will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 11 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Interment will on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 2:30 PM at Minden Cemetery with Military rites by the Army National Guard Honor Guard. Directly after the interment, a reception will be at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minden, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran Hour, Trinity Lutheran Church, or donor’s choice.
