Polly A. Towery

Polly Annette Towery, age 66, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at her home in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on March 31, 1960 in Oxford, Nebraska, to Glen V. and Norma (McConnell) James.

They lived on a farm north of Hendley, Nebraska. She attended kindergarten and half of 1st grade in Hendley, and finished the 1st grade at Holbrook, Nebraska. In 1966, the family moved to Arapahoe, where Polly started 2nd grade and attended Arapahoe High School.

In 1977, she gave birth to her daughter Jenifer. In 1982, Polly married Mike Towery and lived in Almena, Kansas. She gained three children in the marriage; Heather, Mike and Steve. They later divorced in 1989.

Polly continued her education by attending McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska. Where she received her Associates Degree in General Studies in 2009.

She worked several years at The Muddy Creek Saloon in Arapahoe. Then she got a job cooking at the Good Samaritan Center Nursing Home in Arapahoe. She cooked for a couple years and then she was moved to the office as office manager. She loved her job and staff, but especially enjoyed all the residents and they loved her. If she had a favorite, it was Gary Laverack. He would go to her office and sit with her. She worked at the office until they closed the doors in 2020.

Polly had a beautiful singing voice and loved to sing to her grandson Ryan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Merl & Mike, both of Arapahoe, Nebraska, a half-brother, Henry Railback of Colorado, and a niece Makena James of Wilcox, Nebraska.

Those left to mourn her passing are her daughter Jenifer Davis, Grandson Ryan and Sergio Davis, all of Arapahoe, three sisters, Dona & Paul Laverack of Funk, Nebraska, Bobbi Upson & Kathy Graf of Arapahoe, Nebraska, and one brother Melvin & wife Sharon James of Wilcox, Nebraska. Many nieces & nephews, cousins and cherished friends.
