Opal Iva (Hall) Stubbs, age 93, of Beaver City, Nebraska formerly of Lexington, Nebraska died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Beaver City Manor at Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born June 13, 1918 at Cabool, Missouri to Samuel W and M. Alverda (Goosic) Hall. A year later her family returned to Furnas County, Nebraska for a visit when their daughter, Clara, caught diphtheria and died at the of 5 years & 4 days. The family stayed in Nebraska and Opal grew to adulthood surrounded by a large extended family of cousins, her grandparents & great-grandparents having come to Furnas County, Nebraska in the 1880's. Opal loved to go to the county dances where she could cut a rug with the best of them. She met her future husband, B. Marion Stubbs, and soon after graduating from Beaver City High School in 1937, she married him on June 27, 1937 at Norton, Kansas. To this union 6 children were born. Following marriage they moved to Oregon for a couple years but returned to Furnas County, Nebraska. In 1950 they moved to Lexington, Nebraska where they lived for the next 38 years. Along with raising her large family, Opal worked throughout her life. She won a contest for selling the newspaper subscriptions in the area; she worked at Marsha Morgan's Care Home on Washington Street in Lexington and she babysat for probably over a hundred children in the Lexington area, treating them exactly as she did her own children with humor, love and discipline. She also took care of her parents along with everything else. She moved to Beaver City Manor on April 30, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sondra, husband Marion who died Aug 27, 1998, sisters; Verna and Clara and brother Charles. Survivors include: Sons: Dwight Stubbs & wife Betty of Lexington, Nebraska David Stubbs & wife Judy of Lincoln, Nebraska Rick & wife Yong Stubbs of Sierra Vista, AZ Daughters: Pamela & husband Larry Daniels of Beaver City, Nebraska Moiya Stubbs of Beaver City, Nebraska Grandchildren: 11, Lisa & Sue Sinor, Todd & Tami Stubbs, Jeff & Brian Stubbs, Jason, Richard & Sheila Stubbs, and Brandi & Shane Hanson Great-Grandchildren: 21, Levi & Jennifer Kvasnicka, Ryan & Riese Lerdall, Mitchell & Hayden Harmon, Sara, Amy, Erin, Morgan, and Nathan Stubbs, Zachary Stubbs, William Stubbs, Sean & Brianna Averett, Jason Robitaille, Jered, Brittani, and Jessica Miller, and Emily & Bailey Hanson. Great-Great Grandchildren: 4, Liam Kvasnicka, Lavin Shepherd, Isabella Lerdall & Stella Wichmann (with another due in January 2012) Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome. com Opal requested cremation and no services which the family honored.
