Arapahoe, Nebraska Morris Jennings Ems, age 89, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away Monday, January 14, 2008 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on March 11, 1918 at York, Nebraska to Robert & Irene (Miller) Ems. He attended school in Arapahoe, Nebraska and graduated with the Class of 1936 from Arapahoe High School. He married Lorena Roepke on July 30, 1938 at Arapahoe, Nebraska. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. After his service time, they made their home in Arapahoe, Nebraska and started Mosbarger-Ems Construction Company. They would work on highway construction and other land developing projects in the area. He would also be co-owner of Weverka Sand & Gravel Company for many years and owned and enjoyed working on his farm. He served as Furnas County Commissioner, Arapahoe City Councilman, & Arapahoe School Board member. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #96, and VFW, all of Arapahoe, Nebraska. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge, in McCook, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Ems, 4 brothers Orris, Victor, Harold (Jack), & Duane Ems, & 1 sister Marjory Weber. Survivors include wife Lorena Ems of Arapahoe, Nebraska Son: Donald & wife Rhonda Ems of Mesa, Arizona Daughters: Donna & husband Rick Wolzen of Lincoln, Nebraska Myrna Ems of Lincoln, Nebraska Linda Fritz of Lincoln, Nebraska Brother: Kenneth Ems of Tacoma, Washington Richard & wife Audrey Ems of Muncie, Indiana Grandchildren: 10 Great- Grandchildren: 16 Great-Great Grandchildren: 1 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at http://www.wenburgfuneralhome.com/. Viewing & visitation will be Friday, January 18, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 19, at 1:30 PM at the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery, at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Military rites provided by American Legion Post #96 of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
