Beaver City, Nebraska Midlred M. Lewis, age 91, of Cambridge, Nebraska formerly of Beaver City & Arapahoe area died Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at Cambridge Manor at Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born November 29, 1917 at Hendley, Nebraska to Frank and Phebe (Pearson) Fletcher. Mildred was a life long resident of Furnas County. She grew up on a farm West and South of Beaver City, Nebraska. She graduated from Beaver City High School with the Class of 1935. She attained a teaching certificate after attending normal school and taught for 2 years at rural school South and West of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She married Richard Lewis on Oct 3, 1936 at Beaver City, Nebraska. They farmed between Arapahoe and Beaver City. They moved to Beaver City following retirement and later to Cambridge, Nebraska. Her husband Richard died July 16, 2003. Mildred moved into Cambridge Manor on Aug 12, 2003 and resided there until her death. She was a very good pianist and used her talents for entertaining nursing homes, churches and playing for funerals over the years. She was a member of First Christian Church at Beaver City, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by parents, husband Richard, Son Charles and 3 Brothers: Clay, Elmer and Ben Fletcher, 2 Sisters Marie Fletcher and Helen Bobbitt. Survivors include ; Son; Richard Lewis of Nebraska City, Nebraska Grandchildren: 5 Great-Grandchildren: 3 Condolences or personal reflections can be left at http://www.wenburgfuneralhome.com/ In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be given to First Christian Church or Beaver City Rescue Squad or to the Cambridge Manor at Cambridge, Nebraska. Memorials can be left at funeral home or at the Church on service day. Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009 , 9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Thursday at the church. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 10:30 AM, at First Christian Church in Beaver City with Pastor John Sievering, Officiating. Burial will follow at Hendley Cemetery at Hendley, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
