Beaver City, Nebraska Maxine Marie Bishop, age 81, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born on August 14, 1925 at Orleans, Nebraska to John E. & Edith (McCormack) Stalder. In March of 1929, the family moved to a farm eleven miles from Beaver City, Nebraska. She attended grade school at Spring Green School District #3 and Beaver City High School and graduated with the class of 1943. She then took normal teacher training courses during high school and went on to Kearney State Teacher College for 9 weeks. This enabled her to teach for 5 years. She taught 3 years at Needmore School District #46 and Hendley School District #99. In March of 1945, she was baptized and became a member of the United Methodist Church, of Beaver City, Nebraska. In October 1948, she changed membership to the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver City, Nebraska. On May 16, 1948 she was united in marriage to Wesley Bishop of rural Beaver City, Nebraska. They made their home on the family farm, southwest of Beaver City, Nebraska. To this union 5 children were born. Kathleen, Suzan, Duane, Mark, & Becky. In 1980, after the death of her husband she moved into Beaver City, Nebraska. She worked for 17 years in the school lunch room assisting in preparing and serving meals to the school students. She reupholstered furniture in her home for many years. She also was a 4-H leader while raising her children and then again after retirement. Over the years she sewed many quilts and quilted for 9 years at the Senior Center. She made a special quilt for each grandchild. She was an avid reader, and read the entire Bible every year. She also kept a daily diary for many years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was very active in her church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and in the Presbyterian Women Organization. In March of 2004, she moved to the Beaver City Manor, due to the challenges of Parkinson's disease. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wesley, grandson Brandon Bishop, infant Great Granddaughter Lauren Franklin, & brother Donald Stalder. Survivors are 2 sons: Duane & wife Lois Bishop of Beaver City, Nebraska Mark Bishop of Beaver City, Nebraska 3 Daughters: Kathleen & husband Howard Schemper of Norton, Kansas Suzan & husband Alvah Long of Beaver City, Nebraska Becky & husband Chuck Talbott of Morrison, Oklahoma Brothers: Ernest & wife Joy Stalder of Beaver City, Nebraska Leo & wife Jerry Lou Stalder of Stamford, Nebraska Sisters: Darlene & husband Floyd Anderson of Great Bend, Kansas Dorothy & husband Arlyn Lambert of Beaver City, Nebraska Doris & husband Dave Sydow of Trenton, Nebraska Sisters-In-Law: Ruth Stalder of Beaver City, Nebraska Mary Jean Beard of Salem, Oregon Grandchildren: 15 Step-Grandchildren: 6 Great-Grandchildren: 14 Step-Great Grandchildren: 5 Viewing and Visitation will be Saturday, April 7, 2007 from 9 AM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Beaver City, Nebraska and prior to the services at the church. Funeral services will be Monday, April 9, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Keith Theobald, officiating. Burial will be at the Mt.
