Arapahoe, Nebraska Mary L. Slocum, age 67, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the Cambridge Hospital, in Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born on April 1, 1942 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Samuel & Mary S. (Austin) Harrison. After attending school in Shreveport, Louisiana, she was a stay at home mother raising and caring for her family. Once her children were grown, she went on to cosmetology school. She owned her own salon in Orleans, Nebraska called Je'Mars. She married Ed Slocum in 1983. Ed would pass away in 1986. After retiring, she lived in southwest Nebraska and northwest Kansas to be close to her children & grandchildren. In 2002, she moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward Slocum, son George Jerry Hall, daughter-in-law Jessica Chapman Peterson. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 4, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Michael Flury, officiating. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, at Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
