Arapahoe, Nebraska Mary Jo Janssen, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born on November 14, 1936 at Holdrege, Nebraska to Earl S. & Lucile M. (Buckley) Frost. She grew up in Arapahoe, Nebraska area and attended Arapahoe High School graduating with the class of 1954. She went on to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received her teaching degree. On June 17, 1957 she married Wally Janssen in Los Angeles, California. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado for 1 year and then to Lexington, Nebraska for several years were she taught elementary school. They would live in Gothenburg and McCook, Nebraska for several years. While in McCook, she taught Special Education for the public school system. They would move to Kearney, Nebraska for a couple of years were she returned to school at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. They would move to Arapahoe, Nebraska for 24 years were they owned and managed the hardware store. In 1999 they moved back to Kearney, Nebraska. She was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Kearney, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Wally Janssen of Kearney, Nebraska Son: Gary & wife Susanne Janssen of Alma, Nebraska Brother: Doug & wife Jan Frost of Fort Collins, Colorado Grandchildren: 3 Condolences and personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Friday, January 2, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 3, at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. David Otten, officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
