Marie E. (Esslinger) Toomey

Arapahoe, Nebraska Marie E. (Esslinger) Toomey, age 79, of Lincoln, Nebraska formerly of Arapahoe & Elwood area died Friday, August 20, 2004 at a hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was born August 30, 1924 in Gosper County, Nebraska to Jacob & Frances (Sander) Esslinger. Marie grew up in Gosper County and attended Emanuel Lutheran School. She married Tofy Toomey on January 17, 1945 at Norton, Kansas. They briefly farmed at Lexington, Nebraska and then moved to a farm North of Arapahoe, Nebraska. They retired from farming in 1980 and lived in Elwood, Nebraska. They moved to Kearney, Nebraska in 1995 and then to Lincoln, Nebraska in October of 2001. They celebrated their Golden Wedding on January 17, 1995. She attended the Methodist Church most of her adult life. She was preceded in death by her Parents, a sister Evelyn Niemeier and Brother Howard Esslinger. Survivors include her husband Tofy of Lincoln, Nebraska 3 Daughters; Lorraine & husband Bob Denny of Seward, NE Carolyn & husband Roger Eschliman of Lincoln, NE Jane & husband Jesus Morales of Sargent, NE 1 Brother: Paul Esslinger of Phoenix, AZ 7 Grandchildren: Paul Denny, Katherine Denny, Diane Lidke, Sonya Eschliman, Brian Taylor, Melissa Taylor and Jessica Taylor. Visitation and viewing will be Monday, August 23 till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to services Tuesday at the church. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 2 PM at First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. Hyeongdong Baek, officiating. Burial will follow at Arapahoe Cemetery. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
