Beaver City, Nebraska Lawrence L. Kentfield, age 84, of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Friday, September 20, 2013, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, Cambridge, Nebraska. He was born on May 28, 1929 at Beaver City, Nebraska to Erwin B. & Gertrude E. (Manley) Kentfield. He attended school at District 44 thru 8th grade and graduated with the class of 1946 from Beaver City High School. After school he started farming with his father and bought land southwest of Hendley, Nebraska. He married Ruth M. Hanni on July 16, 1950 at the Hanni farm south of Hendley. He would then enter the service in 1952 serving as a Marine during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954. Lawrence would come back to Nebraska to farm. He would enjoy back grounding cattle and working as a ring man for many area sale barns and cattle buyer. He enjoyed working with cattle and horses and was a proud supporter of the cattle industry. In July of 1988, he and Ruth moved to Beaver City and would later retire in 2010. He attended the United Methodist Church in Hollinger, Nebraska and the Faith Community Church in Beaver City. He was a member of the Rural Fire District Board, Beaver City Jaycees (served as President), Beaver City Lion’s Club, Beaver City American Legion, Wilsonville Saddle Club Rodeo, National Cattleman’s Association, Nebraska Livestock Feeder’s Association, Furnas County Livestock Association, Furnas County Fair Board (served as President), & served on the Beaver City city council. During his time on the Furnas County Fair Board, he helped bring the home owned Carnival to the fair. He was an active member of AA and touched many lives as a sponsor. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Vesta Inman, Virginia Smith, Anna Belle Lewis, Olive Grimsley, brother Merlin Kentfield. He is survived by his wife: Ruth Kentfield of Beaver City, Nebraska Son: Scott & wife Donna Kentfield, of Norton, Kansas Daughter: Michele Kentfield of Hutchinson, Kansas Sisters: Marion Gwinn of Longmont, Colorado Helen & husband Dean Weaver of Stamford, Nebraska 5 Grandchildren: Jason Richards, Jessica, Matthew, & Donny Hjort, & Brady Kentfield 12 Great Grandchildren: Alex, Ethan, Atreau, Ashton, Shya, Cameron, Dominic, & Brookly Hjort, Makenri, Kera, & Dylan Richards, & Maxwell Whatley. Grand-dog: Husker Condolences and personal reflections may be sent to wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City with family being present from 4:30 PM till 6:30 PM and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 1:30 PM at the Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastors Keith Theobald and Linda Knipping-Potts, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska with military rites given by the Beaver City American Legion. Memorials are suggested to the Furnas County Home Owned Carnival. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
