James E. Frack

September 13, 1950 — March 31, 2026

Beaver City, Nebraska

James Elliott Frack, age 75, passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Beaver City Manor in Beaver City, Nebraska. He was born on September 13, 1950, in McCook, Nebraska, to Harold and Martha (Peg) Frack.

Jim grew up on the family farm south of Hendley, Nebraska. He attended kindergarten at Spring Green Country School and later went to Holbrook District 99 in Hendley. He graduated from Beaver City High School in 1968. On August 3, 1968, he married Rhonda Hardiek in New Almelo, Kansas. To this union, four children were born: Russell, Kimberly, Diann, and Christopher.

Jim held many jobs throughout his life. As a young man, he worked in the oil fields in Kansas. He later owned a plumbing business and a restaurant, The Ole Panhandler. However, the one constant in his life was his love of farming—first helping his dad and later working his own land.

Jim and Rhonda shared a love for the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and hunting. Above all, their greatest joy was their grandchildren. Jim was an amazing Papa. They traveled far and wide to attend sporting events and school activities, often spending four days a week on the road to support them. On any given weekend, there was a grandkid at the farm—often several. Whatever they wanted, Papa did his best to make it happen. He especially loved taking them hunting and creating memories they will carry with them for a lifetime.

Jim is survived by his son, Russ (Gina) Frack of Norton, Kansas; daughter, Kimberly (Dan) Pearson of Cambridge, Nebraska; daughter, Diann (Larry) Wilson of Marquette, Kansas; and son, Chris (Courtney) Frack of Norton, Kansas.

He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Zach Nelson, Gabe (Sarah) Nelson, Seth (Megan) Nelson, Ethan Nelson, Sam (Emily) Pearson, Matt (Kinsley) Pearson, Brendon (Chaylee) Frack, Kara (Nate) Hendricks, Coleton Frack, Cooper Frack, Sam McCue, Joplyn McCue, and Avreigh McCue; and his great-grandchildren: Madelyn Pearson, Kash Pearson, Ivy Pearson, Vivian Pearson, Kolsen Frack, Kya Frack, Logan Nelson, Phillip Nelson, Halstyn Hendricks, and two more on the way.

Jim is further survived by his sisters, Debra (Mike) Chesterman of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Betty Frack of Holdrege, Nebraska; his aunt, Mary Francis Frack; his in-laws Roger and Bev Hardiek of Norton, Kansas; Connie and Roger Dreher of Hays, Kansas; and Cathy McMillin of Hays, Kansas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife of more than 52 years, Rhonda Frack; his parents; his parents-in-law, Virgil and Irene Hardiek; his nephew, Shawn Chesterman; his in-laws Pat and John Vandiest, Rick Hardiek, Jerry Berls, Kay Berls, and Danny McMillin; and his cousin and best friend, Ron Karnes.

Jim’s friendly nature and kind heart meant he never met a stranger, only friends he hadn’t yet met. He will be deeply missed, but the love, laughter, and memories he gave will live on forever in those who knew him best. Until we meet again, we rest in the promise of eternal life through faith and the peace of God’s presence.

A Celebration of Life Open House honoring Jim will be held from 2:00–4:00 p.m. on April 11, 2026, at Faith Community Church in Beaver City, Nebraska. A private family interment will be held at a later date, with Bill Weaver officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska.
