Harold J. Schaefers, age 95, of Beaver City, Nebraska died Monday, June 14, 2010 at the Beaver City Manor. He was born May 29, 1915 at Clayton, Iowa to Xavier & Mary (Auer) Schaefers. He was the youngest of 6 children. Harold grew up in Iowa, he helped his Father with farming till he met and married Venita Carpenter at Strawberry Point, Iowa on September 6, 1939. Shortly after marriage they moved to California where Harold was a pipe fitter (welder) in the Los Angeles and Long Beach area. In the mid 40's they moved to Cogwell, ND where they opened Schaefers Blacksmith & Repair. In 1961 they relocated to Berthord, Colorado and opened Schaefer's Repair where they continued to operate till his wife died January 28, 1975 at which time he moved to Beaver City, Nebraska and opened Schaefers Repair Shop operating it until retirement in 2004. He moved to the Beaver City Manor in February of 2010. He was a member of St Germanus Catholic Church at Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, Two brothers; George and Casper Schaefers; 3 Sisters: Marie Magennis, Margret Mededith and Teresa Willie. Survivors include one Son: Elmer & wife Susie Schaefers of Beaver City, Nebraska Brother-in-law: Bernie Carpenter and wife Jan of California Many nieces and nephews. Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Sunday, June 20, 2010, 2 PM until 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Monday at the church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Rosary services will be Monday, June 21, 2010 at 1:30 PM followed by Funeral Mass at 2 PM at St Germanus Catholic Church at Arapahoe, Nebraska with Father Robert Barnhill, officiating. Cremation to follow services with private inurnment at Mt Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
