Goldie M. Wentling

Goldie Marie (Fuller) (Hutchens) Wentling, age 92, passed away on June 13, 2026, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was born on May 18, 1934, in Imperial, Nebraska, to Louis Charles Fuller and Alma (Terrell) Fuller.

On March 10, 1953, Goldie married Robert “Bob” John Hutchens, and together they built a life grounded in hard work, devotion, and joy. They made their home on a farm seven miles south of Hendley, where they raised their two daughters, Kathy Marie and Joyce Ellen. Bob and Goldie also adopted a son Arlon Fuller, whom they cherished. Goldie loved farming — the rhythm of the land, the satisfaction of honest work, and the deep pride of caring for her family.

Despite the long days, Goldie and Bob always made room for fun. They vacationed every year, often camping in the mountains of Colorado, bowled on teams, and spent countless days boating and fishing. Their love for horses brought them into the Wilsonville Saddle Club, where they formed friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime. Goldie was also a devoted member of her church and an active participant in the United Methodist Women’s group. For many years, she faithfully served her community on the election board.

Goldie’s life changed forever on October 15, 1976, when Bob died in an automobile accident. Through heartbreak, she carried on with strength and grace — qualities that defined her throughout her life.

In time, life brought Goldie a second chance at companionship. She met Wendell Wentling while bowling, and soon the two were spending their days working together and their evenings enjoying each other’s company. They married on March 9, 1979, blending their families into one. Goldie embraced her expanded family wholeheartedly, delighted to welcome Wendell’s children — Kim Wentling, Gayle Wentling, and Kaye Linner — into her heart and home.

Goldie is survived by her daughters Kathy Jesseph and Joyce Frasier; her step‑sons Gayle (Margo) Wentling and Kim (Dawn) Wentling; and her son‑in‑law Doug Linner. She leaves behind six grandchildren, twenty great‑grandchildren, and one great‑great‑grandchild, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

Goldie’s greatest love was children. Nothing delighted her more than time spent with her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren — sharing ice cream, sneaking treats, and baking what many would swear were the world’s greatest chocolate chip cookies. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, sweetness, and unconditional love, and her family will forever remember the warmth she poured into every moment with them.

Goldie lived a life marked by resilience, generosity, and a deep love for the people around her. Whether she was tending the farm, cheering at a bowling alley, serving her church, or gathering her family close, she did everything with warmth and sincerity. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.
