Gerald Dwight Jackson, 87, of Beaver City, Nebraska, passed away peacefully at his home on June 5, 2025. Born on April 26, 1938, in Almena, Kansas, to Millard Orin and Edith Dean Jackson, Gerald grew up in the Kansas plains before graduating from Norcatur High School in 1958.
On July 5, 1959, Gerald married his high school sweetheart, Judith Nell Leichliter, and together they raised a loving family. Gerald and Judy were blessed with three children: Charlotte, Beverly, and Brian, all of whom have cherished memories of a devoted father and grandfather.
Gerald and Judy raised their family in Beaver City, NE where they owned and operated Jackson’s Mobil service and gas station for many years. After their children graduated from high school they ventured out to Colorado where they managed a retirement community trailer park. Before retirement, they spent time traveling to various places where they would manage storage units while enjoying traveling with their RV in tow. Retirement eventually brought them back to Beaver City where he enjoyed the remainder of his years catching up with old friends and building bird houses.
Gerald was a man of many passions, with a particular love for vintage cars. He enjoyed working on the restoration of his 1950 Ford Coupe, a project he was currently focused on. Whether tinkering under the hood or enjoying the thrill of a drive, his love for classic cars brought him great joy. In addition to his passion for automobiles, Gerald enjoyed fishing and was a regular card player, often found with family and friends around the table.
Beyond his hobbies, Gerald was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He had a knack for making everyone around him smile and was loved by all for his lighthearted spirit, infectious laughter, and warm presence. He had a way of making even the simplest moments memorable, and his humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy, and their children: Charlotte (James) Plotts of Norcatur, KS; Beverly (Andy) Huerta of Aurora, CO; and Brian (Lena) Jackson of Beaver City, NE. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Tyler (Rachel), Shawn (Kaitlynn), Daniel (Zelika), Micaela (Manny), Clifford (Lauren), Steve (Julia) and Josh (Jenna); and by his great-grandchildren Tahjae, Aaliyah, Penelope, Raylynn, Octavia, Stormy, Cheyenne, Ryder, Riley, Kolton, Kyrenn and Kason. He also leaves behind his sister, Iris Smith of Norton, KS.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers: Buster, Arnold, Lloyd, Eldin, David, Dallas, Brooks, and Delbert and four sisters: BettyJo Alexander, Pauline Shoemaker, Lois Bieber, and infant sister Dora Jean.
