Frankie A. John, age 71 of Kearney, Nebraska formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Mt Carmel Nursing Home in Kearney, Nebraska. She was born May 11, 1940 at Campbellsville, Kentucky to Frank & Anne (Breeding) Edwards. She graduated from Paris High School in Paris, Texas. She got her BS degree and graduate work from East Texas University in Commerce, Texas. She married Jerry John on May 5, 1975 at Norton, Kansas. She was publisher & editor of Lenora Leader in Lenora, Kansas for 3 years. Then she went back to East Texas State University where she was counselor-instructor until moving to Beaver City, Nebraska in January of 1988 when she & her husband purchase the Beaver City Times-Tribune paper from Daryl & Faye Killough and operated it till selling it to Doug Garey & Travis Theobald on January 1, 1998. Her husband Jerry died January 22, 1996. She moved to Kearney in 2004 and then to Mt Carmel nursing home in Kearney some 18 months ago. She was a member of Hollinger Methodist Church and UMW and also taught Bible Studies Weekly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry on Jan 22, 1996, step father Milo Carr in 1985 and Brother Elwin in 1974. She is survived by; Brother-in-law; Gordon John and his wife Geneva of Beaver City, Nebraska 2-Step Brothers: Willard Carr of Norton, Kansas Lawrence Carr of Wisconsin 1 niece and 4 nephews. Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfunerahome.com Viewing and visitation will be Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 1 PM until 7 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City and prior to services Wednesday at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Linda Knipping, officiating. Burial will be at Hendley, Cemetery. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City, Nebraska in charge of arrangements.
