Working beside them were Leonard's brother, Lowell and Lowell's wife Elsie, Erma's sister. Erma was a farm wife but also worked at the Beaver City Locker Plant for several years. Later, she was an assistant cook and then head cook at Beaver City Public Schools. Through the years, Erma also worked as a livestock sale barn clerk, a waitress, and at the Apollo Industries in Beaver City. Leonard was an auctioneer as well as a farmer and horseman. Erma and Leonard were members of the Beaver Valley Saddle Club and worked with the club's bingo events which helped finance the building of the Beaver City Clinic in 1952. She was a member of the Good Time Club, the VFW Auxiliary, the Beaver City Chamber of Commerce, the Senior Center quilting group and the Red Hatters.
