Arapahoe, Nebraska Elvira Johanna Ella Bloch, age 89, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was born on September 8, 1917 on a farm 9 miles north of Arapahoe, Nebraska in Gosper County to Karl E.J. & Ida (Hartmann) Wendland. She was baptized on October 8, 1917 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Gosper County, Nebraska. On June 24, 1931 she was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, in Gosper County, Nebraska. On February 15, 1935 she married Howard O. Waln in Gosper County, Nebraska. Seven children were born to this union; Lee Martin, LaVeta, Vaughn, Nila, Gladys, Charles, & Lyle. Her husband Howard passed away. On December 2, 1956 she married Harold A. Bloch at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Three sons were born to this union; Kenneth, David, & Robert. They made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska were she worked at the Regional Center for 2 years and then at Lincoln Public Schools as a custodian for 28 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church & LWML of Lincoln, Nebraska. She also was an assistant Den Mother while her boys were in Boys Scouts. In September of 1989, they moved to Arapahoe, Nebraska. Harold passed away on October 13, 1989. She transferred her membership to the Trinity Lutheran Church & Trinity LWML of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her parents, Husbands Howard Waln & Harold Bloch, 3 sons; Infant Lee Martin, Vaughn, & Charles, Brothers Carl, Max, Leonard, Martin, George, & Victor Wendland, Sisters Henrietta, Emma, & Bertha. Survivor include 4 Sons: Lyle & wife Carol Waln of Barstow, California Kenneth & David Bloch of Barstow, California Robert Bloch of Lincoln, Nebraska 3 Daughters: LaVeta Griffith of Emmitt, Idaho Nila Delanie & Gladys Fields of Barstow, California 2 Sisters: Margaret Dahm & Helene Dickmeyer of Arapahoe, Nebraska Numerous Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren Condolences or personal reflections can be left at www.wenburgfuneralhome.com. Viewing & visitation will be Thursday, June 28, from 2 PM till 8 PM and Friday, June 29, from 9AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 30, at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. David Otten, officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, north of Arapahoe, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home, of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
