Arapahoe, Nebraska Earl Thomas Moore, age 88, of Arapahoe, Nebraska died on Sunday, May 24, 2009 at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center, in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on December 13, 1920 to Cyrus "Ole" & N. Mable (Horton) Clements. His mother Mable died shortly after his birth. He would then stay with Mable's sister Grace L. (Horton) Moore & husband Oscar Frank Moore. It wasn't until he was almost 20 years old when Oscar & Grace Moore legally adopted him. He graduated from Arapahoe High School with the class of 1938. He went on to McCook Community College and graduated in 1941. On October 5, 1941, he married Gwendolyn Faith Stevens. They would move on to Lincoln, Nebraska where he attended the University of Nebraska Engineering college for four months studying Aircraft Assembly Inspection. He then got a job with Glenn Martin Air Craft factory as an inspector. In August of 1944 he entered into the Army Air Corps. He was an inspector and mechanic on B-29's. He would also spend time serving in France, Germany, & Austria. He was discharged in April of 1946. After his discharge, he went to work for his brother in the grocery store in Arapahoe. In 1947, he started farming southwest of Arapahoe. In 1978 they sold their farm and moved into Arapahoe. On January 13, 1984 his wife Gwendolyn died from cancer. In 1988 he met Dorothy Mercedees Beach. They were married in Lexington, MO on August 5, 1990. They made their home in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, of Arapahoe. Master of the Grange and member of the Wheat Growers Association in Furnas County, Nebraska. He called square dances from 1957 until 1992. He enjoyed playing the piano and accompanying for other people and also his children. He is preceded in death by his parents Cyrus and Mable Clements, O. Frank & Grace Moore, wife Gwendolyn F. Moore, brother Orval Moore, sister Fern Johnson, son Earl Hugh Moore. He is survived by his wife D. Mercedees Moore of Arapahoe, Nebraska Son: Craig & wife Mary Moore of Agoura Hills, California Grandchildren: 11 Great-Grandchildren: 15 Condolences and personal reflections may be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Wednesday, May 27, from 1 PM till 8 PM and Thursday, May 28, from 9 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home, in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:30 AM at First United Methodist Church, in Arapahoe, Nebraska with Pastor George Probasco, officiating. Internment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Nebraska with military rites given by the American Legion Post #343 of Edison, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
