Emma Geraldine “Geri” Fisher, age 93, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born northwest of Oxford, Nebraska on the family farm to George and Myrtle (Johnson) Baily on February 11, 1930.
Geri attended Hardscrabble country school through the eighth grade, then graduated from Oxford Public Schools with the class of 1947. She went on to attend the Beauty Academy in Lincoln, Nebraska. She worked in a salon in Oxford for five years, then cut and styled hair at home for family and friends for many years. She was united in marriage to Loran Jr. Fisher in 1953. Together, they had two children, Debra and Scott. They raised on their farm northeast of Edison until moving to Arapahoe in 2011.
Geri is survived by daughter, Debra (Don) Cantrell of Merna, Nebraska, Scott (Brenda) Fisher of Edison, grandchildren, Christie Cantrell of Bloomington, Illinois, Kyle (Gina) Cantrell of Anselmo, Natasha (Joseph) Rickley of Papillion, and Anthony (Karmeca) Fisher of Edison, great-grandchildren Grace, Owen, and Kipp Cantrell, Trey, Gunnar, and Beckham Rickley, Kade and Genevieve Fisher, sisters Beverly Peterson of Claremore, Oklahoma, Judith Lueking of Oxford, and brother Robert (Frances) Baily of Oxford.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Harold Baily and Ernest Baily, sisters, Doris Nelson and Marjorie White.
Geri enjoyed baking and cooking for her family. Some family favorites were her fried chicken, spaghetti, creamed peas, coconut cream pies, chocolate sandwich cookies, divinity, and her special donuts. She enjoyed hearing about all the activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attended many of their events when she was able. Geri and Junior were members of the Oxford Methodist Church for many years and then the Arapahoe Methodist Church.
