Arapahoe, Nebraska Donald C Schaepler, age 86, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center at Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was born on June 16, 1927 at Stromsburg, Nebraska to Charles & Alveena (Dobberstein) Schaepler. Don grew up at Polk, Nebraska and attended Polk High School, graduating with the class of 1945. He married Margaret M. Gertsch on September 12, 1948 near Polk, Nebraska. They farmed near Polk for 12 years and lived in Pleasant Dale, Nebraska in 1959 for one year and then moved to Valley, Nebraska where Don began his work with the Game and Parks Commission of Nebraska. They were located in Arapahoe, Nebraska area from 1962 thru 1976. They would then move to Lincoln, Nebraska for 16 years. Don was the Chief of Law Enforcement for the Game & Parks Commission in 1980. They moved to Holbrook, Nebraska in 1992 after his retirement. His wife Margaret passed away in 1999. He would marry Madeline McCoy on March 16, 2001 and make their home in Arapahoe, Nebraska. Don loved to shoot trap, hunt, fish, and enjoy the great outdoors. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arapahoe, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, sister Erma Werth, infant brother Willard Schaepler. He is survived by his wife Madeline Schaepler of Arapahoe, Nebraska Daughter: Deborah Hanebuth of Alma, Nebraska Christine & husband Rick Bothell of Prescott, Arizona Son: Charles & wife Vickie Schaepler of Kearney, Nebraska Step- Son: Steve & wife Diane McCoy of Arapahoe, Nebraska Step-daughter: Lyn Tupaz of Lincoln, Nebraska 10 Grandchildren: Nicholas Otte, Christian Harder, Zuri Guerard, Cortney Schaepler, Megahn (Gabe) Re, & Brett Schaepler, Joel McCoy, Nichole McCoy, Heather (Kole) Kugler, Ned Tupaz 1 Great Grandson: Kruz Kugler Condolences or personal reflections can be left at wenburgfuneralhome.com Viewing and visitation will be Friday, September 20, 2013 from 10 AM till 8 PM at Wenburg Funeral Home in Arapahoe, Nebraska and prior to the service at the church. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 11 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Arapahoe, Nebraska with Rev. James Moshier, officiating. Interment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the Arapahoe Public Library. Wenburg Funeral Home of Arapahoe, Nebraska is in charge of the arrangements.
