She was selected to the All-Star volleyball team her senior year of high school. She was a member of the Holbrook Coop's women’s bowling team for a few years.

Connie married Darrel Roger Graning, September 24, 1960 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church with Rev. Harlan Harnapp, officiating. To this union two children were born; Scott William and Theresa Lynn. Connie enjoyed hunting for artifacts and belonged to the Republican Archeology Society. She was also a member of the Furnas/Gosper Counties Historical Society, and was secretary to both organizations. She was also employed at Meader's Market in Holbrook. Worked at The Derby Café in Arapahoe before and after getting married. In her later years, she worked at the Senior Center in Arapahoe.
