Cody Mickeal Williams started life on May 14, 2003, in Holdrege, NE. He was born to Mickeal and Kerrie Williams of Beaver City, NE. The first five years of his life, from 2003 to 2008, Cody loved playing cars, making mud pies, playing in the rain, jumping in puddles, and just having fun being boys with his older brother David. In 2006, when Anthony James (AJ) joined the family, he loved helping his mom take care of his new brother. He was always there first when he heard a cry to see if he could help. In 2008 due to extenuating circumstances, he and his brothers were removed from the Williams home.
Early in 2009 Cody and his brothers were welcomed into the family of Jay and Tammy Wells of Alma, NE. They were greeted by Chere’ and Michael, along with niece Madison and nephew Braxton. The children quickly bonded over backyard baseball games, bike rides, family vacations, swimming, sporting events, and other outdoor activities. Family vacations were filled with laughter as they explored new places together. Later in life, nieces Brooklyn and Jordan arrived, and Cody adored them. They enjoyed simple pleasures together, from having ice cream on the porch to playing with Barbies and hosting tea parties. Cody’s willingness to join in their activities created cherished memories.
On December 5, 2011, Cody was adopted by the Wells family and started his life as Cody Michael Wells never forgetting where he came from yet embracing life looking forward. Cody attended Alma Public School, where he received his High School diploma in May of 2022. While in school Cody was active in FFA, Art, and cross country where he found his love for running. During cross country practice if he had finished and anyone was still running, he would go run with them to encourage them. Cody enjoyed the camaraderie with his cross-country coaches, who often shared valuable running tips and motivational stories. In school Cody found a love for reading, he was never without a book in his hands unless it was replaced with a fishing pole. The Harry Potter series was his favorite, and he read it so often that the library ordered a new set and gifted the well-worn copies to Cody.
Cody could be caught tucking a book inside his classroom textbook just to keep reading.
Cody was confirmed and became a member of The Alma United Methodist Church. He took his love for the Lord and transformed himself into a loving, peaceful soul by volunteering at shelters and offering a listening ear to those in need. He saw all the good in others and believed that through Christ, he was meant to carry His word into the world. Everyone he met was a friend, and with his warm inviting smile, the Lord’s love shone through, bringing comfort and joy to those around him.
Cody’s first place of employment was at Main Street Pizza in Alma. He thrived to make the customers and his employer, his older sister, proud of him by his skills, customer service, and continuous smile that was contagious. After leaving Main Street Pizza he worked at Subway in Alma and McDonalds in Holdrege. During his spare time, Cody could often be found either fishing alone, with friends or family, or venturing into the wilderness to hunt deer.
In May of 2024, Cody had the chance to reunite with his birth parents Mickeal and Kerrie and his little sister Kemi. From the moment Cody and Kemi started talking, it was obvious that they were two peas in a pod. The bond they shared was almost instantaneous as they both loved playing Call of Duty, walking and chilling while watching movies. Additionally, Cody, Mickeal, and Kemi all enjoyed playing Call of Duty together, furthering their family bond. Cody always had a bright smile, a warm hug, and an affectionate “I love you momma” anytime he saw Kerrie. They would often spend countless hours watching Harry Potter movies more times than they could count.
Cody was one that tried to keep everyone smiling with his infectious laughter and kind heart. Cody was taken too soon, and we will miss him more than he will ever know. Cody left his earthly world for his heavenly realm on Thursday, July 17, 2025, near Beaver City, Nebraska.
