Betty Jo Warner

Betty Jo Warner, age 85, of Littleton, Colorado formerly of Beaver City, Nebraska passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Millbrook Home Portland Place in Littleton, Colorado. She was born on May 7, 1928 to her loving parents Clifford and Beryl (Goble) Strickland. Betty graduated from Beaver City High School in 1945 and began working at First State Bank, of Beaver City where she retired after 46 years of loyal service. Betty was married to her soul-mate and only love, Dale (Seal) Warner on August 25, 1950. During their marriage they were on the go, as Seal played on a traveling baseball team with Betty as his biggest fan. To that union, three children were born: Robert Dale in 1952, Tricia Ann in 1954, and Kathryn Marie in 1960. Seal unexpectedly passed away on July 1, 1963 leaving Betty and their small children to carry on his memory. On June 28, 1976 Betty welcomed her first granddaughter, Brandi Jo, and they spent every available moment together. Her second granddaughter, Shea Warner Slansky was born on May 24, 1992. Betty was fortunate enough to retire that same year to spend many joyous days with her as well. In 1992, Betty was blessed with two more loving granddaughters, Jamie and Sophia. From school programs, to sporting events, to graduations, Betty never missed the opportunity to cheer on her beautiful granddaughters. Betty was most happy at home, surrounded by her family. She was very spiritual and was a proud member of the First Christian Church her entire life. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She loved to spend weekends with her beloved little sister and best friend, Shirley. Betty was fortunate to spend time with her three great-grandsons, Cade, Coby, and Crae. She loved to watch them swim and play. She adored them and they adored her. In May of 2010, Betty moved to Littleton, Colorado where she was lovingly cared for by her son, Bob, and his wife, Claudette. Betty later moved to Millbrook Assisted Living in Littleton, where she was known to everyone as “my sweet Betty”. It was here that she passed away peacefully in her daughter’s arms. Betty was preceded in death by many loved ones. Her love story now continues in Heaven with her husband Seal. Also waiting in Heaven are her parents, Clifford and Beryl; brother, Strick and wife, Bonnie; sister, Shirley and husband, Jim; and great-granddaughter, Hope. Betty is survived by her three children, Bob and wife Claudette of Littleton, Colorado Tricia and husband Ron Mehling of Burlington, Colorado Kathy of Beaver City, Nebraska granddaughter Brandi and husband Mick Ingram and children Cade, Coby, Crae, and the late Hope Angel Ingram of Burlington, CO; granddaughter Shea Slansky of McCook, NE; granddaughter Jamie and husband Derek Setter of Chicago, and granddaughter Sophia and husband Tom Piraino of Broomfield, CO; and many nieces and nephews. Betty touched so many people in her life, and we were so blessed to have her as our Mom, Grams, Sister, Aunt, “my sweet Betty”, and friend. Betty was always so humble, and never knew how her kindness, gentleness, and selflessness changed the world, one person at a time. There will be no viewing or visitation as Betty had requested. Her celebration of life will be Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00am at the First Christian Church in Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Keith Theobald, officiating. Betty will be laid to rest next to her husband at Mount Hope Cemetery in Beaver City, Nebraska. Wenburg Funeral Home of Beaver City is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
